Before that, at about 11 am on June 12, a forest fire broke out in Khe Huong, which is the border between Nam Loc commune, Nam Dan district and Thanh Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district.
Due to the hot weather and strong Lao wind, the firefighting work faced many difficulties. The functional forces mobilized more than 600 people from the 414th Engineer Brigade - Military Zone 4, the local government and Mrs. People's children in the area burned to extinguish the fire to save the forest. The fire lasted until the evening of June 13, causing dozens of hectares of perennial pine forests in the area to be completely burned. It is worth mentioning that while participating in fighting the fire to save the forest, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Lanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nam Loc commune, Nam Dan district, fell and broke his arm, a cadastral officer in this commune also fainted from exhaustion. With complicated developments due to prolonged dry weather, the risk of forest fires is very high; This is also an alarm for relevant sectors, local authorities need to take measures to widely propagate, prohibit people from bringing firewood into the forest to limit fires in the hot season.
