AFFF 3% -45 Fomtec AFFF 3% -45 is an aqueous film forming concentrate (AFFF) with a very low freezing point (-45°C) for use in humid climates. The foam forms a film of water that quickly cuts off the oxygen supply and thus extinguishes the fire. The expanded foam which the film is released forms a stable blanket that prevents the release of flammable vapors and cools the fuel surface, extinguishing the fire and preventing re-ignition. The low surface tension of the foam concentrate allows the water film, although heavier than the combustible liquid, to float on the surface of the liquid. Formtec AFFF 3% -45 should be used at 3% solution (3 parts concentrate in 97 parts water) in fresh or sea water. It can also be stored as a premix solution in fresh water. Application The Fomtec AFFF 3% -45 is designed for use on Class B hydrocarbon fuel fires such as oil, diesel and aviation fuel. It can be used with both suction and non-suction discharge devices. The Formtec AFFF 3% -45 is particularly suitable whenever rapid fire suppression is required. It is compatible with all dry chemical powders and can be used in powder/foam dual-agent systems. Combustion & foaming performance Foaming properties depend on the equipment used and on other variables such as water and ambient temperature. Foaming index not less than 7:1 (normally 8:1), 25% drain time 3.0 minutes (normal 3.5). Proportional allocation Formtec AFFF 3% -45 can easily be balanced at the correct dilution using common equipment such as: ✔️ Inline choke ✔️ Balanced pressure, variable flow regulation system
Bladder tank
Around the pump balance system
Water turbine controlled foam balancer
Branch pipes and self-guided nozzles Specifications

Formtec AFFF 3% -45 is biodegradable. However, handling of concentrated solution or foam spills should be done in accordance with local regulations. Usually sewer systems can handle foam solutions based on this foam concentrate, but local sewer operators should be consulted in this respect. This product does NOT contain PFOS or PFOA.
Fomtec AFFF 3% -45 is formulated with the latest fluorine technology and uses only “All-C6” fluorinated compounds. Full details will be found in the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Storage / Shelf life Stored in the original unbroken packaging the product will have a long shelf life.
The Fomtec AFFF 3%-45 recommended storage temperature range is -45°C to 55°C.
Freezing and defrosting will not affect performance. Synthetic foam concentrates should only be stored in stainless steel or plastic containers. Since electromagnetic corrosion can occur at joints between dissimilar metals when they come contact with foam concentrates, only one metal should be used for pipes, fittings, pumps and tanks. used to store foam concentrates.
