ABOUT INSTALLATION LAW(NFSC)

Based on NFSC 102 Article 6-8-2

•The flow measuring device should be installed in the straight pipe part of the performance test pipe, and it should have a performance that can measure more than 175% of the rated discharge volume of the pump.

•The distance of the straight pipe between the on/off valve and the flow measuring device and the straight pipe distance between the flow measuring device and the flow control valve follow the installation specifications of the corresponding flow measuring device.

Figures A and B are diagrams showing an example of installing a fire extinguishing flowmeter in the test pipe consisting of the main pipe and branch pipe of the fire pump.

1. When installing a differential pressure area type flowmeter, a straight pipe of a certain distance is required.

2. The diameter of the main pipe and the test pipe does not need to be the same, but the test pipe and the flow meter pipe must use the same pipe and size.

3. The precision for accurate measurement of the flow through the flow meter lies in the smooth flow of the inlet and outlet. Be sure to check the cleaning condition such as foreign substances.

4. Flow rate measurement is based on the upper part of the float, and in the case of gas, the middle part is the standard.

5. If the measured flow of the 40~125(A) size flowmeter is more than 85% of the maximum measured value, or if it is more than 150(A), it should be installed as shown in the figure (B).
