Product information

Foam chambers are used in one of the most common applications to protect vertical (conical) roof fixed liquid storage tanks, with or without an internal floating roof with low expansion foam systems. The application of foam is on a risk basis including the total surface area of the fuel. Commonly used foam system design guidelines are compliant with the NFPA-11 standard. The foam chamber is defined by NFPA-11 as a Class II outlet for the delivery of foam to the surface of a flammable liquid. Foam chambers are widely used with In-line foam inductors, pressure-balanced foam balancing systems, bladder tank balancing or foam tenders. The foam chamber is an air-suction foam discharge device, covering a wide flow range of 75 to 3600 liters per minute at an inlet pressure of 2.8 to 7 kg/m2. The foam chamber contains a vapor seal to prevent vapor ingress the foam chamber and foam solution tube. Each foam chamber is provided with an orifice plate, designed for the required flow and inlet pressure. Holes can replace the field in case of changing design parameters. Foam is created by introducing air a stream of foam solution. The inlet of the foam chamber is designed to create a venturi jet that draws air the foam solution stream. Air is drawn the foam solution through holes located in the porous cavity covered with stainless steel mesh to exclude birds and nesting insects. The aerated foam is directed at the deflector for gentle application of the expanded foam. The deflectors are available in different models. Removing the cover the top of the chamber allows the system to be tested and an expanded foam sample drawn, without removing the air cushion or disconnecting the foam chamber the tank. The odd broken glass disc (air seal) can be replaced very easily.
