Fire fighting chemical powder KV-LITE POWEREX, Fire fighting equipment KVfire
KV-LITE POWEREX is a dry chemical powder based on Potassium Allophonate a reaction product of Potassium Bi-Carbonate -Urea It is developed, registered and patented by ISRO scientists , Space Department of India.
- KV-LITE POWEREX is a dry chemical powder based on Potassium Allophonate, a reaction product of Potassium Bi-Carbonate. It is developed, registered and patented by scientists of ISRO, Indian Space Department. Licensed to manufacture this product under a technology transfer agreement. Possesses the unique property of decay in that the powder particles decompose a large number of minute particles in the flame region so that the surface area of the powder in the combustion zone increases.
- The effectiveness of fire extinguishing depends on the rate of free radical removal, which is directly proportional to the exposed surface area, i.e. the larger the surface area of the powder; faster than extinguishing.
- Large surface area can also be achieved by grinding the powder to a very fine size. But the fine powder will cause compression problems during storage and also problems with projection. Furthermore, there is an excess limit to which the powder cannot be ground. This limitation is overcome by the reducing property of KV-LITE POWEREX, which cannot be achieved by other conventional powders.
- KV-LITE POWEREX is recommended for large class B&C fires involving flammable liquids where rapid extinguishment is required to save lives and property.
Applications
- KV-LITE POWEREX can be used in Conventional Portable Fire Extinguishers, Wheeled Units, Fire Trucks, Fixed Installations. Its application density is low; so the charge required in the fire extinguisher will be approx. 60% lower.
