The BEAM 1224 & BEAM 1224S are four-wire conventional beam smoke detectors. They are well suited for protecting open areas with high ceilings where point type smoke detectors can be difficult to install and maintain. The installation of a single-ended reflector design is much faster than that of a dual-ended beam detector. Easy alignment is made with a sight optics and two-digit intensity meter integrated the beam detector. Listed for operation 30°C to 55°C, the BEAM1224 and BEAM1224S can be used in open area applications to provide early warning in environments where temperature extremes exceed limits. designed for other types of smoke detectors. BEAM1224 and BEAM1224S are one transmitter/receiver unit and one ector. When smoke enters the area between the unit and the ector, it causes a decrease in the power signal. When the smoke level (signal strength) reaches a predetermined threshold, an alarm is triggered. The detector has four standard sensitivity selections as well as two Acclimate™ settings. When the Acclimate™ setting is selected, the detector automatically adjusts the sensitivity using an advanced software algorithm to the optimal sensitivity for the environment. The BEAM1224S has an integral sensitivity test feature of a flter attached to the servomotor of the optical detector. Triggering the RTS451 remote test station moves the firefighter the path of the beam, testing sensitive detectors. This sensitivity testing feature allows users to quickly and easily meet annual maintenance and inspection requirements, with no physical access to the detector.
